Don't Stop Believing' Bay High Orchestra play together, apart

Bay High Orchestra plays apart, while Mr. and Mrs. Singler bring them together -- Don't Stop Believin'!

Listen above to this beautiful piece created with Bay High Orchestra students recording their individual parts at home. Mrs. Carrie Singler (and her helpful spouse) mixed together the individual violin, viola, cello and bass tracks after students sent in their recordings:

Last week all the high school orchestra members had sectionals with me over Zoom: 1st Violin, 2nd Violin, Viola, Cello & Bass sections," said Mrs. Singler. "It was challenging because you can only have one sound at a time on Zoom, so I had the kids mute themselves and play along with my sound and video. I couldn't hear them at all, of course, but afterwards they then would give me feedback on how they felt they did compared to my video and sound, and we worked through problem solving in that way."

Mrs. Singler then asked students to record. "When it was time to record, the students set up two devices and a set of headphones to make their recording. One device streamed my recorded click track through their headphones into their right ear. Their left ear was left uncovered so they could hear their own instrument. The other device was the device they used to record their playing."
