Some of the most rewarding experiences one can have at Bay High and Bay Middle School comes in the form of involvement in our co-curricular programs.
PURPOSE STATEMENT
An individual’s total education extends beyond the classroom. The purpose of an effective cocurricular program must be to provide each student with opportunities for emotional, cultural, mental, physical and social growth. This growth can be accomplished through activities that support and advance the curriculum, promote common interests, develop a sense of ownership in the school and reflect and enhance the goals of the District. In order to accomplish this purpose, the co-curricular program should exhibit the following characteristics:
- high level of participation,
- equal access for all students,
- responsiveness to students’ interests/talents,
- faculty participation/support,
- interaction with parents and community,
- diverse opportunities,
- school/community service
- development of leadership qualities,
- enjoyable experiences and positive attitudes,
- promotion of a curiosity about and an interest in many different activities,
- development and demonstration of students’ talents and skills, and
- management by skilled and effective sponsors and coaches.
