We are pleased to offer ProgressBook, the online program that will let you access your grades and other information posted by any of your teachers who elect to use the program (in grades 5-12).
IMPORTANT: Bay High School and Bay Middle School will not be sending interim report cards home this year. You can check ProgressBook for more frequent updates on academic progress throughout the marking period. Teachers who elect to not use ProgressBook for posting homework and assignment grades throughout the term will post an assignment called "Interim" half way through the marking period.
Parents and students, here's how to get started:
1. Collect the information you will need
You will need the letters containing the parent log in information and your student's log in information. (If you have more than one child attending Bay Village Schools, step 4 will show you how to link them to one account.) Parents with more than one child will have received a parent account letter for each child. You can select and use just one of those parent log in user name/password combinations. However, SAVE ALL THE LETTERS AND PASSWORDS (see why in step 4). Once you have everyone's log in information in front of you, go to the ProgressBook Parent/Student log in page.
2. Log in for the first time with User Name and Password from your Parent or Student ProgressBook letters
(We recommend that parents log in before students do for the first time so there is no confusion about the needed student log in information when parents link their children's accounts [step 5]). You will be prompted for your user name and password. Both the user name and the password are case-sensitive, so please type them exactly as they appear in the letter you received.
You will then be prompted to enter your email address and to change your username and password. (If you forget your password, the system will email it to the address you enter now.)
If you have problems logging in after carefully checking and trying your log-in information several times, contact us via email and we'll respond during normal office hours.
3. Update your contact information
Parents will want to change the first and last name from their student's name to their own name when using the parent log in codes. Students will see their own name. Select "Edit my Profile" under the My Account heading when you need to update information, including your email account. Be sure to click on the Save button when you are finished typing.
4. Link all children to one account
Parents who have more than one child enrolled in the Bay Village City School District may want to link them all to one parent account. While logged in as the parent, select "Link My Accounts" under the My Account heading. It will ask for the Login Name(s) and Password(s) of your other child(ren). Again, this information is available on the student ProgressBook letter addressed to your child. (Of course, if your student has already changed his or her log in name and password, you will need to get the new ones.) Once you’ve typed this information in, click on the LINK button. Repeat for all for which you have log in information (generally only students in grades 5-12 may have received the log ins). When finished, you may have to refresh the screen to see which of your children have been linked.
Important: Keep all your letters and account numbers. Because each parent account number is associated with the one student (the student whose information is in the same letter), teachers will only be able to see that the parent of that particular student account logged in even if you visit linked student accounts after log in. Because some teachers are giving extra credit or requiring students and parents to log in, you may want to log in using the parent account directly associated with that particular student.
5. Explore!
Use the menu tabs to find your student's schedule. Click on the student tab to find schedules, current grade averages (if teacher is using ProgressBook as a grade book), or posted information like homework. Use the Class tab to view any teacher web page or class comments. There is a User Manual available by clicking on the Help link in the upper right corner of every page. While some teachers are using more features than others, you will often find at least grade average for a class or class attendance. (Note that grade average will not reflect all assignments not yet posted.) You can also go into your account and set Alerts for low grade threshold or missing assignments. At both Bay High and Bay Middle School, alerts will be emailed daily at 4:30 p.m.
7. Logout
When you are finished using Progress Book, be sure to Logout by clicking on the Logout tab on the top right of the window. You can then close the window normally.
We stress that you respect each individual teacher’s wishes in how they use ProgressBook. Our dedicated teachers will make their decisions based on their individual classes and circumstances. They will always provide, in whatever ways they feel are best, the information you need to be successful.
