Digital Safety/Awareness for Parents February 25

Bay Village City School District Presents
Digital Safety and Awareness
Parent Informational Night

February 25, 2019 7:00 Bay Village Police
Department Community Room

Please join us for an evening presentation for parents
hosted by Bay Village Schools and
Detective Kevin Krolkosky of the Bay Village Police Department

Parents attending will learn :

● How to respond as a parent and control/provide boundaries for internet usage
● Recent research exploring the link between mental health concerns and screen usage
● Current trends on the types of social media being used by children
● The impact and consequences that technology is having on school age students

When it comes to discussing social media, it’s important that adults and
kids speak the same language. What grown-ups think of as “cyberbullying” might be explained away by kids as “digital drama”, but it’s not trivial. Digital drama brews in the offline world and simmers
online when kids feel emboldened to say or do things that they wouldn’t face-to-face. Checking in with kids and observing them as they interact with technology can ensure your conversations are
productive and helpful. (CommonSenseMedia)
