Superintendent Jodie Hausmann

Employed as Superintendent of Bay Village City School District, effective August 1, 2018.

Superintendent Hausmann began her leadership of the Bay Village City School District in August of 2018. Drawing on conversations from a spring and summer listening tour of Bay Village staff, parents and residents (both in homes and school buildings), she immediately began a comprehensive school safety initiative, a primary concern of stakeholders. Her efforts integrated staff training, facility upgrades and a prioritization of mental health support, all using evidence-based processes and expertise. The district is also building a strategic planning foundation that will be introduced to the community next school year. She received the Buckeye Association of School Administrators' 2018 Betsy M. Cowles Leadership award for women in leadership  in 2018.

PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE:

Superintendent, Perkins Local School District in Sandusky, Ohio, August 2015-2018.

As Superintendent at Perkins, Jodie Hausmann led a strategic planning process engaging more than 100 of the district’s stakeholders. She collaborated with community members for passage of an operating levy and permanent improvement renewal levy after a long district history of failed ballot issues. Under her instructional leadership, grade-level Value Added scores for the district moved from failing to straight A’s in one year, earning the Ohio Department of Education’s Momentum award for two years.

- Collaboratively pass a 6.9 mill-operating levy after 17 years of no new monies,
and a 2 mill-PI renewal levy resulting in stabilized district finances from fiscal
caution status to a multi-million dollar surplus.
- Implement 90-day Listening and Learning tour resulting in communicating
themes that honor traditions while addressing needs of stakeholders in a new
strategic plan.
- Facilitate the development of The Perkins Promise Plan with the help of many
stakeholders that includes core beliefs, five strategic goals, learner profile model
and career connections academic plan.
- Co-lead Community Council resulting in two-way communication to inform
decision-making.
- Improve all failing Value Added scores to straight A’s and received The ODE
Momentum Award for two consecutive years.
- Increase access to AP courses for underrepresented children, improve scores,
and inform families of students’ AP potential as highlighted by receiving the
national AP Honor Roll Award.
- Launched a universally designed instructional framework that outlines teacher-
based-team work based on equity audit data.
- Build pre-K- 8 Career Connections pathways to inform students when entering
high school academies and college/career readiness decisions. (Agriculture,
STEM, Tourism, Business)
- Lead HR functions: collaboratively rewrite job descriptions, organize new
application process, negotiate contracts, meet all OPES/OTES evaluation
deadlines and conduct search committees.
- Address safety issues: lead testing water lines, pool procedures, safe-lock doors,
bomb threat evacuation, fire alarm upgrades, weight room safety, camera
installation, and cyber bullying training.

Parma City School District:

Director of Teaching and Learning, 2011-2015

- Restructured elementary, middle school and high school schedules in partnership with union leadership, teachers, and administrators to achieve the following: increased instructional time, innovative course opportunities, embedded teacher-based teams, and common planning time for all.
- Coordinated district consolidation with the help of others by: reconfiguring facility space, redistributing curriculum of 400+ teachers, transitioning special need students, and transferring 1,500 students to new schools.
- Created an elementary STEM school with teacher leaders committed to 21st century learning.
- Supported the launch of student 1:1 and 900+ teachers classroom devices by working closely with DIS to effectively integrating new technologies to all Teaching and Learning initiatives.
- Trained teachers on writing student-learning objectives (SLOs) and analyzing short-cycle assessments to monitor student academic progress via The Ohio Teacher Evaluation System.
- Launched K-7 summer school model balancing teacher designed enrichment courses.
- Wrote grants collaboratively to establish new community partnerships, and STEM programming.
- Co-led a “Social Justice” equity audit resulting in changing practices to positively impact learners.
- Designed district RTI problem-solving process resulting in lower misidentification of students with disabilities.
- Created district-wide positive behavior supports’ matrix in partnership with teachers, administrators, and classified staff resulting in decreased suspensions and improved student behavior.

Principal, Parma Park Elementary School, 2007-2011

- Led steady and sustained growth to meet ODE designation of “Excellent with Distinction” in three years.
- Met AYP in all subgroups of diverse learners by implementing an RTI framework with targeted interventions.
- Increased value-added scores to above one year’s growth via data analysis and differentiated instruction.
