First Place at State of the Arts 2019!
CONGRATULATIONS to Bay High art teacher Cherie Bauer and Bay High student Olivia Doland who were honored as mentor/mentee with FIRST-PLACE recognition at the annual, juried State of the Arts exhibit the Ohio University School of Art + Design. The exhibit celebrates students and teachers together to recognize the importance of art education in Ohio's high schools.

Remember US
Cherie Bauer's acrylic on museum board, "remember US," honors our country's heritage of immigrants.

Also from our Bay High Art Department, Bay High art students in Mr. Schemrich's class created bowls for a local foodbank fundraiser, “Empty Bowls.”

Here's how it works: students, artists, and craftspeople created vessels that soup can be served in. Donors then pick a bowl from all that are created and in it they receive a simple soup and bread.

"It is a cool take on the normal fundraiser galas," said Mr. Schemrich.

Each bowl provides 120 meals for those in need, according to organizers. Students chose to donate their creations with no class requirement to do so.
