Overall_A copy Bay Village Schools recognized with Ohio Department of Education Overall A Award

This week, the Ohio Department of Education named each of our four K-12 Bay Village schools an Overall A Award winner.

ODE states that our district’s report card demonstrates high academic performance and "building bright futures for students of every background and ability level." It further states that this impressive achievement shows our education team has embraced the daunting challenge of meeting Ohio's strategic plan for education: Each Child, Our Future.

This plan is to ensure that each student is challenged, prepared and empowered for his or her future by way of an excellent prekindergarten through grade 12 education. We must prepare students for a future that has yet to be written. Congratulations to our Bay Village Schools teachers, administrators, support staff and students for working every day toward this common mission!

GratitudeCircle Attitude of Gratitude is contagious in Bay Village Schools

Staff and students in the Bay Village Schools are finding that gratitude, which increase optimism, joy and happiness, also goes further than benefiting oneself. Gratitude includes expressing appreciation to others, as well as “paying it forward” to spread the kindness around. [Read more ...]

Bay High Robotics Club gears up for intense competition

Robotics, the technology of designing, constructing and programming robots to do automated tasks, is a growing field. The Bay High School Robotics Club, in its second year, is also growing and aiming to compete with some of the top high school robotics clubs in the area.

“Building robots to solve the challenge of a rigorous competition is just the best learning experience on so many levels,” said Michael Clifford, Bay High science teacher and the club’s advisor. “It is a goal of the school to prepare students for a world of technology, and the FIRST Robotics Competition is as technical as it gets for high school students." Westerly students write holiday messages to troops

Westerly students in Mrs. Robinson's and Mrs. McMaugh's fourth-grade classes wrote holiday letters to service men and women serving in Qatar.
The students were inspired to write letters because the son of educational aide Debbie Farver was serving there, and her story made it personal.
Their letters shared information about themselves and Bay Village, and then students sent their best wishes and thanked the troops for their service.
In addition, the students made custom decorated and laminated book marks for each soldier, often with a patriotic theme.
These students will also be holding a fundraiser in January to benefit the training of service dogs for veterans who need them upon returning home.

Sharing Glad Tidings!

Bay Village Schools were steeped in holiday spirit throughout December.

Our students took their musical performances to nursing homes and community events.

Students and staff members held many collections of food, clothing and dollars for those in need.

We celebrated our fellowship in gatherings both within the schools and outside of school.

And of course, holiday crafts and activities filled our classrooms as students reflected on the meaning of the season.

Westerly students also shared their favorite holiday traditions (Elves! Trees! Snow!) in this article from the Westlake Bay Village Observer.

Here's wishing everyone a wonderful holiday season.
We'll check back in 2019!
