Bay Middle School students and staff rake the leaves for hundreds of elderly and disabled homeowners every single fall, and they had a beautiful day for it November 17. More than 150 homes were raked this year!

This is a long tradition when, rain or shine, students in grades 5-8 roll up their sleeves and get raking. They get plenty of help from parents and the school's staff members. Mr. Fitchpatrick and Ms. Flamos were the advisors for this year's project.

Empathy . . . kindness . . . compassion -- more than just words at our Bay Village Schools.

Providing a wonderful start for infants, toddlers and preschoolers . . .
Glenview Child Care and Learning Center celebrates 35 years
Three generations of Glenview directors met at the Center's recent 35th birthday party: Pictured at right: current director Dody Chadwick (left), first director Carol Ball (center) and Barb Manning (right), director from 1998-2008, after working there as a teacher from the center's beginning in 1982. (Carol is fighting lymphoma and chose not to wear her hat for this photo in support of Bay High's "No One Fights Alone" campaign.)

Since 1982, the year-round program has operated in the former Glenview Elementary School building, providing infant and toddler daycare, a preschool program based on the Ohio State Early Learning Content Standards, and before-and-after care for school-aged children through grade 5. Read more HERE.

Weston Wolf gets a makeover!
WestonWolfcrop Westerly has a new Weston Wolf mascot this year who is a more kid-friendly, kid-sized version of the original.

"Weston had been around as long as anyone here on staff could remember," said Westerly Principal Josie Sanfilippo. "The costume had been cleaned so many times, and it really was time to replace it. We used the opportunity to reconsider everything we wanted in a mascot while retaining our traditional wolf."

Mrs. Sanfilippo met with Mrs. Denise Toil, who had a friend who made and designed costumes. They looked at photos and came up with some new ideas. Mrs. Sanfilippo thought that at the third and fourth-grade level of Westerly students, the costume should be kid-sized.  [More ...]

Bay High Marching Band and Rockettes have a Disney Thanksgiving!

The Bay High School "Rocket" Marching Band and Rockettes wowed the crowds gathered for the Disney Festival of Fantasy Pre-Parade, introducing the Magic Kingdom's tribute to the tales of Fantasyland.

Musicians participated in Disney's "You're Instrumental" Workshop, recording a polished performance of Disney music in a studio environment. The Rockettes Dance Team attended "Disney's Dancin' Workshop," experiencing a mock audition that went from warm ups through the whole process of learning choreography, performing the routines, to how dancers are eliminated and then finally chosen. As a bonus,  the instructor was also a former Radio City Music Hall Rockette!

After all the work, there was plenty of time to enjoy Disney's Hollywood Studios, Epcot Center and Universal Studios.
