Best Music Education Community 2019!
Standards
for inclusion on the prestigious Best Communities for Music Education
list have increased consistently over the last 17 years, but the Bay
Village City School District is once again so honored for its exemplary
music program. First recognized with the designation in 2003, and each
year since, Bay Village is among just 623 districts nationwide, and 38
Ohio districts, identified for the honor by the NAMM Foundation in
2019. [Read on . . . ]

Visiting our neighbors at The Knickerbocker!
 |
Superintendent Jodie Hausmann, Board of Education President Beth Lally, and Treasurer Nicole Spriggs visited residents at the Knickerbocker Apartments recently to talk about what our schools do to serve the "whole child."
Questions
from the senior citizens included what we are doing about safety and
bullying. Especially popular were photos showing how our students serve
others, and how they take care of one another.
Residents also
want to be more involved with our schools, and they would like to attend
our events. Administration will be working with them to remove
obstacles to their enjoying student performances.

A musical pathway to career and travel for National Merit Finalist Amelia Johnson
Bay
High senior Amelia Johnson was named National Merit Finalist this
month, a prestigious academic achievement awarded to less than one
percent of Preliminary SAT test-takers in the U.S. She is hopeful the
designation will lead to both acceptance and scholarships to colleges
where she’d like to major in music education and performance.
"I
feel that my musical training has taught me to work very hard and has
taught me discipline," she said. "These skills have definitely helped me
succeed in other academic areas."

Podcast with senior basketball players
Superintendent Hausmann
asks three senior boys basketball players to reminisce a bit, not only
about the great 2019 season, but going all the way back to their
childhoods! In addition, the boys are asked to project themselves 10
years into the future and think about what their hopes and expectations
are for those future selves.
From Coach Shetzer: "4 years. 4
district championship games. Fantastic run by our senior class! Thank
you for the memories & the commitment to setting the standard high.
The best part of this is our kids are from here. Born here. Raised here.
Played here. Couldn’t be prouder!"
