Board members spend considerable time studying district decisions through the board committee process. Committee assignments for each year are determined at an organizational meeting in January.

 

Dan Sweeney, President

Serving his second term on the Bay Village Board of Education, Dan Sweeney is a family physician (currently Section Head of the Department of Family Medicine at the Cleveland Clinic’s Westlake Family Health Center). He has served as a medical consultant to the Bay Village Board of Education on various student health issues since 1985. He has volunteered his expertise by providing sports physicals to student athletes since 1996. He received his M.D. from Case Western Reserve University and earned a B.A. in English and Pre-Medicine from the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts. Dan and his wife, Anne, are both lifelong Bay Village residents and have two children currently attending the Bay Village Schools and two older children in college who graduated from the district. Current term expires January, 2010.

 

Mike Boeckman, Vice President

Serving his first term on the Bay Village Board of Education, Mike is Chief Financial Officer and Administrative Partner in Cohen and Company, an accounting firm which serves Northeast Ohio. He earned a B.S. in Accounting from The Ohio State University and is a Certified Public Accountant. He and his wife, Darcy, have lived in Bay Village 23 years, have one child currently attending the Bay Village Schools and have a college-age child who graduated from Bay High School. Mike is serving his third  term, which expires January, 2012.

 

Amy Huntley

Serving her second term on the Bay Village Board of Education. Amy is a Certified Public Accountant and partner in an area accounting firm. A graduate of Bay High School, she and her husband, Tom, have six children who have or are currently receiving their entire K-12 education from the Bay Village schools. She has served as president of the school board, as treasurer and president of Normandy and Westerly Elementary School PTAs, and as treasurer of Bay Middle School PTA. Amy also served as treasurer of Citizens for Bay Schools 1995-2000. Current term expires January, 2010.

 

Carol Pancoast

Serving her seventh term on the Bay Village Board of Education, Carol holds a M.A. from Duke University; a B.A. from the College of Wooster; and worked as a college English instructor from 1969-1981. She has served as board president and vice-president. Carol also served as president of Glenview PTA and Bay Village PTA Council. A Bay Village resident for 36 years; she and her husband, David; have two children who are Bay High graduates. Current term expires January, 2010.

 

Bill Selong

Serving his second term on the Bay Village Board of Education, Bill is a Corporate Operations Manager for Procter and Gamble (30 years with company). He holds a B.S. in Business from Miami University, Oxford, Ohio. He and his wife, Sally; have four children who have or are currently receiving their entire K-12 education from the Bay Village schools. He has served as board president, and is now serving his third term, which expires in January, 2012.
