Bay Village Schools Student Transportation Handbook Everybody has a job in school bus safety . . .
Forms are available in the Transportation Department at 29230 Wolf Road (west of the Bay High parking lot and stadium--look for the school buses) and the K. T. Allen Building (board central office at 377 Dover Center Road) to request day care/babysitter transportation (note: these forms are not available on the website for security reasons). These forms must be completed in July before the beginning of each school year and returned to the Transportation Department , not to school offices (may drop at or mail forms to K. T. Allen building). back to top
Forms are available in the Transportation Department at 29230 Wolf Road (west of the Bay High parking lot and stadium--look for the school buses) and the K. T. Allen Building (board central office at 377 Dover Center Road) to request changes in bus stops (note: these forms are not available on the website for security reasons). Requests need to be submitted directly to the Transportation Department at least one (1) week prior to the change. Requests will be taken into consideration; however, the majority of routes will remain as written. Drivers are not permitted to accept notes, unless approved by the Transportation Office. back to top
Parents requesting a change in their student's transportation assignment on a short-term basis must submit the request in writing to the Transportation Department at 29230 Wolf Road (west of the Bay High parking lot and stadium--look for the school buses) one (1) week prior to the change. Requests will be honored if it is determined there is room on the bus and the request is received in a reasonable time period. In the event of an emergency, contact the Transportation Department at 440-617-7310 (fax: 440-899-5985). back to top
Parents who wish to apply for transportation service but who have students who do not qualify and live in an area close to the school may contact the Transportation Department at the end of October to inquire if space is available to have their student included on a bus. All requests must be submitted in writing (form is available) to the Transportation Department at 29230 Wolf Road (west of the Bay High parking lot and stadium--look for the school buses). Students will be assigned on a temporary basis, and parents must understand that their student could be removed from busing privileges if the extra space is needed later in the year for students who qualify to ride. back to top
Reports are sent to the Principal of the student's school and to the child's parents. If the Principal feels it is warranted, the student can be suspended from the bus for a period of up to 10 days per incident. The Superintendent can expel a student from the bus for a period of up to 80 days. The Code of Student Conduct applies while riding the bus, and outcomes of violating the Code of Student Conduct would be consistent with violations that take place while in school. back to top
About 2,000 children ride our Bay Village Schools buses to and from school each day. Nationally, about 23 million children ride the school buses. Traveling on a school bus is the safest mode of transportation, but it takes every one of us to help keep it that way and insure the safety of every child.
